The Member for Beaudesert, Jon Krause, says he is keeping pressure on the Queensland Government to rezone vacant land next to Roslyn Lodge to allow for future expansion.
“As most residents would be aware Tamborine Mountain’s only aged care home, Roslyn Lodge, came close to closing earlier this year due to financial pressures – fortunately the home was saved by Beaumont Care who purchased and now manage the facility,” Mr Krause said.
“I understand that one of the issues faced by the previous owners was that the vacant land next to Roslyn Lodge was not appropriately zoned under the South East Queensland Regional Plan to allow further aged care development.
“This zoning issue hampered expansion plans which could have assisted the former owners to continue their operations.”
Mr Krause said he as soon as became of aware of the issue he wrote to Deputy Premier Jackie Trad to ask that the adjacent vacant land be rezoned to allow Roslyn Lodge to expand should the new owners wish to do so.
“The Deputy Premier has advised that the Department of Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning is now investigating the issues I have raised and the Roslyn Lodge site – they will also discuss the matter with Scenic Rim Regional Council,’ Mr Krause said.
“It is vitally important to have aged care services on the Mountain that can cater for a growing need and I call on the State Government to recognise this in the new South East Queensland Regional Plan which will be released mid-year.”
